The Prime Minister will chair the meeting of the National Police Commission tomorrow to decide on the new ‘National Police Commissioner’.

No. 8/2567 tomorrow (October 7) at 2:30 p.m. at the Sriyanont Meeting Room, 2nd floor, Building 1, Royal Thai Police Office. The important agenda that the media is interested in is the appointment of the National Police Chief, with the names of 3 senior figures: Pol. Gen. Kittirat Phanphet, Deputy Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, Pol. Gen. Kraibhun Thawongsong, Inspector-General of the Royal Thai Police, and Pol. Gen. Thana Chuwong, Deputy Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police.

For the selection process of the national police chief, according t
o Section 78 of the 2022 National Police Act, the Prime Minister is responsible for selecting the names to be submitted to the NPSC for consideration and approval. When considering this agenda item, Pol. Gen. Kittirat, Pol. Gen. Kraibuan, and Pol. Gen. Thana must leave the meeting room because they are considered to have a vested interest. Therefore, the quorum is comprised of only Ms. Paethongtarn, the Prime Minister, as chairperson; Ms. Aonfa Vejjajiva, Secretary-General of the NPSC; Mr. Piyawat Siwarak, Secretary-General of the NPSC, as a member of the NPSC by position; and distinguished NPSC members, such as Pol. Gen. Manu Mekmok, Pol. Gen. Ek Angsananont, Pol. Gen. Winai Thongsong, Mr. Chatchai Promlert, Associate Professor Prathit Santiprabhob, and Professor Supachai Yavapraphat, as members of the consideration committee.
