The Senate voted not to set up a committee to study flooding solutions after Senator Seranee cried in the middle of the parliament, while Senator Alongkot pretended to cry, making fun of her.
The Senate meeting was chaired by Mr. Mongkol Surassajja, President of the Senate, to consider the motion to establish a special committee to study urgent and systematic approaches to solving the flood crisis, proposed by Mr. Seranee Anilbol, Senator, and Dr. Premsak Piayura, Senator.
After the members discussed and expressed their opinions, some agreed and some disagreed with the establishment of the committee, especially Mr. Seranee Aninbol, Senator who proposed the motion, discussed with a sobbing voice, asking to speak from the heart of the Senator who is a representative of the farmer group, who understands the hardships and difficulties of farmers who are facing the flood problem.
Mr. Alongkot Woraki, a senator, debated that he disagreed with the establishment of a committee to study the flooding issue because
it would take a long time to solve the problem. He didn’t know if it would take 25 years or not. In the end, it would just become paper on a shelf. He asked everyone to propose a summary. Where will the problem be solved? Before Mr. Alongkot pretended to cry, teasing his fellow MPs, ‘Hearing that made me want to cry too. We’ve been trying to solve it for a long time, but it still hasn’t been solved. Do you have any tissues? I’m so depressed. I want it to be solved quickly and solve the people’s problems quickly.’
The reporter reported that in the end, the meeting voted against 127 votes, agreed 48 votes, and abstained 10 votes. It is considered that the meeting voted against the establishment of a special committee to study the approach to solving the disaster problem from the flood crisis urgently and systematically.-319.
