SME Bank responds to government policy to help with flooding, issues 4 measures to promote SME business rehabilitation in 2024
Dr. Panita Chinnawat, Deputy Director of the Office, Acting Director of the Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion (OSMEP), revealed that OSMEP is responding to the government’s policy to help with flood relief by issuing 4 measures to promote the rehabilitation of SMEs in 2024 as follows:
1. Revolving fund and low-interest loans measures to increase liquidity in SME business services. Low interest of 0.5-1% per year. The fund helps SMEs affected to apply for low-interest or interest-free loans to be used as working capital for business rehabilitation after the flood. The budget of approximately 1,000 million baht can help a large number of SMEs, considering the actual damages.
2. Made in Thailand by SME Bank measures: Assistance in marketing and sales promotion to provide distribution channels for Thai products to Thai society. Approximately 500 million baht will be use
d to support marketing and sales promotion both domestically and internationally to help SMEs return to selling products faster. This may include support for participation in trade fairs and online marketing to increase sales channels.
3. Measures to restore the infrastructure of SMEs Support low-interest loans of 0.5-1% per year for structures, buildings, and machinery in flooded areas. Allocate a budget of 300 million baht for the restoration of business infrastructure, such as repairing buildings, production sites, or machinery damaged by floods, which will help SMEs return to business operations faster.
4. Measures Training and skills development to upgrade organizations and SMEs to the SME Next Level, using a budget of 200 million baht for training and skills development for SME entrepreneurs to increase their ability to cope with crises and adapt to changing market conditions after the flood, such as training in risk management, business planning and Digital Transformation management.
