The SRT Governor listens to the progress of the railway project on the Northeastern route.


Nakhon Ratchasima, 8 Oct. – ‘Weerit’ visited the area to inspect and listen to the progress of the project on the Northeast route, emphasizing the acceleration of the Thai rail industry to become the center of rail transportation in the ASEAN region. Overall, the high-speed rail construction project is currently 36% complete.

Mr. Veerit Amrapal, Governor of the State Railway of Thailand, revealed that he visited and listened to the progress of various operations, including problems of operators on the northeastern route (Bangkok, Nakhon Ratchasima, Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, and Nong Khai) along with the executives. He listened to the presentation of the plans for the implementation of various important projects of the State Railway of Thailand, such as the suburban electric train project (Red Line), the cooperation project between the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Government of the People’s Republic of China in developing a high-speed rail system connecting the region, Bangkok – Nong Khai secti
on, the dual-track railway project, Phase 1, Map Kabao – Chum Thong Jira section, and the dual-track railway project, Phase 2, Ban Phai – Nakhon Phanom / Khon Kaen – Nong Khai section.

For the overall picture of the high-speed rail construction project, the project is currently 36% complete. As for the Ayutthaya station issue, the HIA report has been submitted to the Cultural Heritage Subcommittee for consideration in accordance with the order and procedure. It is currently being submitted to the National Committee on the World Heritage Convention. As for the dual-track railway construction project, the Map Kabao – Chum Thong Jira section, in the area of ??the Pha Sadet tunnel, which has a dust and smoke problem, is currently being coordinated with the Pollution Control Department to measure the standard criteria. It is expected to open for service again in late November 2024.

The governor of the State Railway of Thailand also said that this visit to Khon Kaen Station also included a lecture on the Centrali
zed Traffic Control (CTC) system located at the Khon Kaen Station building, which controls the signaling system covering the area from Chum Thong Jira Station to Khon Kaen Station. This system can also organize the train schedule (Time table) and prepare the route automatically (Automatic route setting) to replace the original train control plan of the State Railway of Thailand. Currently, the State Railway of Thailand has this CTC system at the Bang Sue Control Center Building and the Khon Kaen Station Building, which in the future will be further constructed to cover the train routes throughout the country.

While the Khon Kaen Railway Market Development Plan has listened to a presentation on the business land development project in the Khon Kaen Railway Station area, which aims to generate income for the organization. In addition, it has visited Udon Thani Province, the Nong Takai Station storage area, which is an important point for domestic freight transport in the Udon Thani Industrial Estate and nearby
areas. In the future, it will be a freight transport hub in the Northeast (upper part). In this visit to listen to opinions, all opinions from the railway people will be applied in working together, as well as taking care of various welfare aspects for the railway staff to build morale in performing their duties, both in the central and regional areas.

The governor of the State Railway of Thailand also assigned executives to help plan the utilization of various projects, especially the double-track railway project, Phase 1, which will be completed in the near future, to create maximum value and benefits. He also thanked and encouraged the operators who worked together with determination and took care of the safety of service users.
