The State Railway of Thailand is operating the northern route as usual.


Bangkok, Oct 8 – “Suriya” announced that the State Railway of Thailand will resume normal northern train services from this evening onwards, while “Weerit” urged officials to speed up cleaning the station and inspect the condition of the railway, emphasizing that the State Railway of Thailand is ready to support every journey so that people can reach their destinations safely.

Mr. Suriya Juangroongruangkit, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, revealed that according to the order for the State Railway of Thailand to closely monitor the new flood situation in the northern region and to closely monitor passenger travel, the latest report from the State Railway of Thailand is that the water level at Chiang Mai Railway Station and the railway has decreased. The northern route can be reopened for service to the public as usual this evening (8 October 2024).

However, the railway officials in areas at risk of flooding nationwide have been instructed to prepare personnel to closely monitor and follow t
he water situation 24 hours a day in order to promptly resolve the situation, as well as prepare to provide various conveniences for service users to travel to their destinations conveniently and safely.

Mr. Veerit Amrapal, Governor of the State Railway of Thailand, added that he has ordered officials to speed up cleaning and preparing facilities within the station, emphasizing safety in using the route. He has also ordered civil engineering officials to go to the area to inspect the safety of the railway route, including the signaling system, especially in areas that were previously flooded and where the water level has receded. Officials have already inspected and improved the route, so Chiang Mai Station and all northern trains are ready to return to normal service this evening from 6:00 p.m. onwards.

Mr. Wirit also said that during the floods and the closure of Chiang Mai Station, the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) provided full convenience for both Thai and foreign passengers by providing safe transpo
rtation from Nakhon Lampang Station, Lamphun Station, and Chiang Mai Station. In addition, a mobile kitchen was set up at Nakhon Lampang Station to provide food and beverages to take care of and assist employees, workers, and passengers who were affected, creating smiles and good impressions for all passengers. The SRT is ready to be with everyone on every journey to ensure that people reach their destinations safely.
