Thirat Delivers Aid to Flood Victims in Chiang Rai, Provides Scholarships and Essential Supplies


Chiang rai: In response to recent flooding in Chiang Rai Province, Thirat Rattanawanich, Deputy Minister of Interior, led a relief effort to Ban Pong Na Kham, distributing essential supplies and scholarships to affected residents. The initiative aimed to address immediate needs and support the region’s recovery process.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Thirat, serving as the Chairwoman of the Forward Operation Center for Flood, Storm, and Landslide Victims, oversaw the distribution of 125 sets of consumer goods and 15 scholarships valued at 1,000 baht each to impoverished children. The operation was part of a broader project by the Chiang Rai Provincial Community Development Office, under the Ministry of Interior, to aid flood victims. The relief efforts were supported by Mr. Sahat Wongskulwiwat, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, and other local officials.

Ms. Thirat emphasized the importance of ensuring optimal living conditions for the 47 affected household
s in Ban Pong Na Kham, who have each received 9,000 baht in compensation. The province has tasked relevant agencies with assessing damaged homes to allocate 10,000 baht per household for cleanup efforts. Residents requiring further assistance have been advised to communicate with their village headman, who will coordinate additional support.

During her visit, Ms. Thirat also inspected the damage and followed up on ongoing assistance and rehabilitation efforts. She provided relief bags to the victims and expressed her support for local OTOP products, such as hand-woven bags, underscoring a commitment to both immediate relief and long-term community development.
