Bangkok: “Thirat”, Deputy Minister of Interior, visited the Organic Agriculture Learning Center for Community Health in Khlong Toei District, expressing approval for the “15-Minute Garden” campaign. This initiative aligns with Governor Chadchart Sittipunt’s policy to promote a sustainable and fulfilling lifestyle for Bangkok residents.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Thirat Samretwanich inspected the learning center, located at Somdej Ya Chalermprakiat Park on Rama III Road. She was welcomed by Mr. Narong Ruangsri, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Bangkok, and Ms. Ketcharin Samipakdi, Director of Khlong Toei District, among others. During her visit, Ms. Thirat explored multiple activity bases, including Bio-fermentation, Organic Fertilizer, Animal Manure Compost, Earthworm Fertilizer, Organic Agriculture Learning, Oyster Mushroom Cultivation, and the 3Rs Waste Management Exhibition: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
Ms. Thirat commended Bangkok for creating an organic farming center for community health. This initiative aims to transform vacant and public areas into accessible 15-minute parks of happiness, particularly in Khlong Toei District, which serves as a key area for residents to work, travel, and relax. The establishment of these parks supports a harmonious lifestyle with nature, offering organic vegetables, food, and medicinal plants, thus enhancing the overall well-being of the community.
Ms. Ketcharin highlighted that the Khlong Toei District Office, in collaboration with community leaders, the public, network partners, and landowners, has been working to convert vacant areas into 15-minute gardens. These gardens aim to foster agricultural practices, community relationships, and extend the reach of the Organic Agriculture Learning Center. The district currently boasts three established 15-minute gardens and plans for eight new ones, including parks such as Khlong Toei Park and 50 Suk Park. These parks are designed to cater to the needs of the community, ensuring that the initiative meets its objectives and provides tangible benefits.
