Vice President Ma’ruf Amin has expressed the hope that the Indonesian Military (TNI) soldiers will continue to increase their capacity and capability in dealing with various threats.
“Increasing challenges means increasing duties and responsibilities of the TNI in protecting the country. With this great demand, all TNI soldiers everywhere must continue to increase their capacity and capability,” he said while offering his congratulations on the 77th anniversary of the TNI via video on Wednesday.
According to the Vice President, the TNI has made several achievements as well as sacrifices and thereby, gained tremendous trust from the Indonesian people.
“The TNI is a pillar supporting sovereignty, guarding territorial integrity, and protecting the country from all forms of disturbance and threats. The TNI is an important part of efforts to recover after disturbances occur in the community,” he said.
In the current scenario, the TNI must show that Indonesia’s defense and security fortresses are capable of warding off various attacks and threats, both conventional and unconventional, and physical and non-physical, such as disinformation, data leakage, and radicalism, he added.
“I thank you for the hard work and sacrifices that have been given by all soldiers, both the Army, Navy, and Air Force and their entire families,” Amin said.
He then expressed the hope that the TNI will continue to maintain and protect the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, which has been established based on the Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution, and support the government’s efforts in building an advanced Indonesia.
Indonesian Military (TNI) Commander, General Andika Perkasa, expressed support for the involvement of TNI personnel in advancing the country’s education push in various regions, including in underdeveloped, frontier, outermost, and conflict-affected areas.
“If it is (about) education, I will fully support the involvement of TNI personnel,” Perkasa said, according to a video accessed on his YouTube channel Jenderal TNI Andika Perkasa, here.
The commander general revealed that the TNI has collaborated extensively with several educational institutions.
During a meeting with Pertamina University, Perkasa accepted a proposal for cooperation between the university and TNI.
One of the programs proposed by Pertamina University is the Ujung Negeri Scholarship that will be awarded to outstanding Indonesian youth in regions. In addition, scholarships will be offered to outstanding children of Indonesian military personnel.
“Soon, we (the TNI and Pertamina University) will prepare a cooperation plan for this Ujung Negeri Scholarship,” he revealed.
According to Perkasa, education is the main window to see the world and change the future for the better. To this end, he will involve TNI personnel located across Indonesia to help and disseminate information about the scholarship program to support the advancement of education in the nation.
Furthermore, he said that education is a long-term investment for every individual, so he deemed it to be quite unfortunate if it is missed.
“Later, we will send (information) to all (personnel), including those who are on duty in underdeveloped, outermost, or conflict-affected areas. Later, (Pertamina University) will make a short video (about the program),” he added.
