Chiang Mai: The atmosphere during the long holiday was bustling as a large number of people flocked to check in at the “Otaru Canal” in Chiang Mai.
According to Thai News Agency, tourists visited the Otaru Canal located at Mae Kha Canal, Hua Fai Community, and Kamphaeng Ngam Community. These areas have recently been renovated and now feature stalls selling food, souvenirs, and gifts. With a break in the rain, visitors took the opportunity to explore and purchase items from the local vendors. Some shop owners implemented a trust-based system, allowing customers to pick up products themselves and deposit money into a piggy bank, eliminating the need for constant supervision.
Visitors expressed their surprise and appreciation for the unique shopping experience, noting the trust exhibited by the shop owners. Many tourists also took advantage of the picturesque settings, choosing spots to capture photographs or to relax and enjoy their purchases. Despite this period typically being considered a low season for tourism, the long holiday ensured a constant flow of visitors to the area.
