Tragic Dispute at Nonthaburi Drinking Party Leads to the Death of Shan Man

Nonthaburi: A Shan man was fatally stabbed with scissors during a drinking party, sparking an intensive police investigation to apprehend the perpetrator believed to be among the attendees.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred at a two-story townhouse in Tambon Bang Si Mueang, Amphoe Mueang Nonthaburi, Nonthaburi Province. Police were dispatched to the scene upon receiving a distress call about a physical assault involving scissors. Upon arrival, they discovered the body of Mr. Kaew, aged between 45 and 50 years, a Shan national, in the second-floor bedroom. He was found lying in a pool of blood with fatal stab wounds inflicted by 8-inch scissors, which were found hanging from two window panes covered in blood.

Eyewitness accounts from the scene provided further details. Uncle Aed, 73, brother of the homeowner, recounted the events leading up to the tragedy. He mentioned that there were four people drinking together, including the deceased. While sitting downstairs, he overheard an argument
erupt amongst the group before Mr. Kaew called out for help. Shortly after, Mr. Bang Lee, another attendee, came downstairs, suggesting Uncle Aed check on Mr. Kaew, who was then suspected to be severely injured or dead. Despite the regular arguments that ensued during their drinking sessions, Uncle Aed initially dismissed the severity of the situation.

Ms. Ari, a local health volunteer, shared insights about the homeowner’s tendency to bring strangers or homeless individuals into his home, which she often warned against due to safety concerns. She described Mr. Kaew, who had a disability in one arm and frequently sought her help, as a regular victim of Mr. Lee’s physical abuses. On the night of the incident, however, she did not witness any disputes.

The police have taken the three individuals from the drinking session, including the homeowner, into custody for questioning at Bang Sri Muang Police Station. Although their statements were inconsistent, they denied any involvement in Mr. Kaew’s death. The home
owner claimed he had discovered Mr. Kaew in a critical condition upon his return from Phetchaburi and attempted life-saving measures, but to no avail.

The suspect, Mr. Bang Lee, admitted to often quarreling with Mr. Kaew but denied any knowledge of the events leading to his death. He claimed to have found Mr. Kaew injured after presumably falling and sustaining stab wounds from the scissors.

The investigation continues as authorities piece together the circumstances surrounding this fatal altercation, with further inquiries aimed at uncovering the motive and ensuring justice for Mr. Kaew.
