Urgent hunt for 3 criminals who shot and killed a durian buyer

Yala, Three perpetrators broke into a durian purchasing stall on the side of Highway 410 (Yala-Betong), Bannang Sata District, Yala Province, in the middle of the night and shot the vendor, with 6 bullets, resulting in his death.

The incident occurred at a durian purchasing stall on the side of Highway 410 (Yala-Betong), Bannang Sata District, Yala Province, late last night. Officials found the body of Mr. Charoenphon, age 38, from Chumphon Province, who was a durian purchasing vendor. He had been shot 6 times, with bullets piercing his torso and head, causing death. Meanwhile, his car had been shot in the right door once.

This morning (July 30), the police bomb disposal and collection unit and officers from Forensic Science Center 10 inspected the scene of the crime, collecting all the evidence in detail, including physical evidence and CCTV footage, in order to track down the perpetrator. Initial findings indicate that the firearm used by the perpetrator was a 9 mm. handgun.

The investigation found that
while the deceased was sitting buying durian with his wife as usual, three criminals broke into the durian purchasing stall and used guns to shoot several times until Mr. Charoenphon died. The criminals then took advantage of their familiarity with the area and quickly escaped.

Initially, officials suspected that it was the work of an insurgent group operating in Bannang Sata and Thanto districts, Yala province. However, officials are still not ruling out a conflict of interest in the durian purchase, as the deceased was from another area and had set up a durian purchase stall in Yala.
