Vientiane – The Women’s Union of the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted a tea party on November 17 in Vientiane, aiming to strengthen connections among female diplomats, wives of diplomatic corps members, and representatives of international organizations. The annual event gathered participants from various countries, including those from the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos.
According to Vietnam News Agency, speaking at the event, Alouny Kommasith, wife of Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Saleumxay Kommasith, highlighted the importance of this year’s gathering, especially as Laos prepares for its ASEAN chairmanship in 2024. The tea party provided an opportunity for cultural exchange and networking in anticipation of the increased diplomatic activities next year.
Participants enjoyed tea and musical performances, and the event featured booths displaying traditional handicrafts, cuisine, and tourism information from the participating countries. Representatives of the Vietnamese Embassy took this opportunity to introduce Vietnam’s rich cultural heritage to international friends. They showcased traditional Vietnamese songs, dances, and typical dishes, offering a glimpse into the country’s diverse and vibrant culture.
