Dalat – Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thanh of the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association and Chairwoman Samdech Men Sam An of the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Association co-chaired a conference in Tay Ninh province on November 12. The conference reviewed the one-year implementation of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on coordination between the two associations for the 2022-2027 period and discussed future cooperation activities for 2024.
According to Vietnam News Agency, Men Sam an emphasized the collaborative efforts of the two countries’ leaders in promoting the planting of border markers, with 84% of the task completed. This initiative aims to establish a border area characterized by peace, stability, cooperation, and development, and to facilitate travel between the two nations.
The conference highlighted the continuous growth in bilateral trade, which is expected to surpass 10 billion USD this year. In the tourism sector, Vietnam is among the top sources of tourists to Cambodia.
Thanh noted that following the MoU, the associations have undertaken extensive work and achieved positive results, reinforcing the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia. Future plans include opening vocational training courses for young people in border provinces and enhancing economic, trade, and investment cooperation to support business expansion and collaboration.
