Vietnam-Australia Defence Cooperation Makes Progress: Official.

HANOI: Deputy Secretary of Strategy, Policy, and Industry at the Australian Department of Defence, Hugh Jeffrey, has praised the advancements in defence cooperation between Vietnam and Australia. Jeffrey’s remarks came during a reception for Vietnamese Ambassador Pham Hung Tam, where he acknowledged the significant progress made since the two nations elevated their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in March.

According to Vietnam News Agency, Jeffrey highlighted Vietnam’s decision to send a naval ship to participate in the Kakadu Exercise 2024 in Darwin for the first time. This move is seen as an indicator of the expanding strategic cooperation and trust between the defence forces of Vietnam and Australia. The inclusion of Vietnam in such a significant exercise underscores the strengthening ties and mutual commitment to regional security and collaboration.
