Hanoi: Vietnam is in full preparation mode for the upcoming 11th Asia-Pacific Regional Conference of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), scheduled for late November in Hanoi. On November 10, a training course focusing on diplomatic and security activities was held in the capital city as part of these preparations. The Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRC) Central Committee, which is hosting the conference, organized this course to equip VRC staff members and volunteers with essential knowledge and skills for reception duties and handling potential situations.
According to Vietnam News Agency, the theme of the quadrennial conference, “Becoming disaster ready in Asia Pacific,” resonates with the region’s pressing need for effective disaster response strategies. The conference is expected to draw around 350 domestic and foreign delegates, including a forum for young leaders to discuss innovative approaches to catastrophe management. The event not only serves as a platform for exchange and collaboration but also presents an opportunity to showcase Vietnam’s culture and promote the country’s image globally.
This conference will play a crucial role in fostering development cooperation between the VRC and its international partners, including various organizations and businesses worldwide. It aims to reinforce the commitments of the Vietnamese government and the proactive role of Red Cross and Red Crescent societies in the region in addressing climate change and responding to disasters. The IFRC, being the world’s largest humanitarian network, comprises 192 member societies.
