HANOI: The Vietnam Red Cross Society (VNRC) Central Committee has received humanitarian support from the European Union and its member states to assist those affected by Typhoon Yagi and subsequent flooding. This aid comes through the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC)’s Emergency Appeal, which seeks to provide relief and support for early recovery efforts.
According to Vietnam News Agency, the IFRC has launched an emergency appeal to raise 4 million CHF (over 4.7 million USD) to support approximately 130,000 people across seven northern mountainous provinces in Vietnam. To date, more than 2 million CHF has been raised, including contributions from the European Union and the governments of Spain, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg.
