Vietnam’s National Assembly Passes Law on National Defense

Hanoi, Vietnam – Vietnam’s National Assembly (NA) approved the Law on the Management and Protection of National Defense Works and Military Zones during its sixth session on November 24. The law received overwhelming support, with 470 out of 471 participating deputies voting in favor.

According to Vietnam News Agency, Prior to the vote, legislators reviewed a verification report on the legal document. Key discussions focused on the classification of defense works and military zones, the dual-use of projects, and changes in the usage of defense works and military zones. In the same session, the NA also passed the revised Law on Telecommunications with an approval rate of 94.74%, garnering 473 votes.

The sixth sitting of the National Assembly, which began on October 23, is scheduled to conclude on November 28. The session has been instrumental in shaping key legislative frameworks, reflecting the NA’s commitment to addressing national defense and telecommunications, vital aspects of Vietnam’s socio-economic development and security.
