Indonesian Vice President Ma’ruf Amin encouraged local governments, especially those in Central Sulawesi, to establish and optimize public service malls to expedite community services, including business license services.
“I encourage improvement in public services through the establishment of public service malls in various district and cities,” he stated here on Friday.
Amin noted that in Central Sulawesi Province, the mall was only available at the provincial level, while none were built in districts and cities.
“Hence, we encourage malls to be established at the district/city level, so that government services to the community become more optimal,” he remarked.
Furthermore, the vice president affirmed that the public service malls aimed to get rid of the stigma that government services are slow and complicated.
Thus, he expects the malls to make public services more easy, smooth, quick, uncomplicated, cheap, and without any form of extortion.
“Development of the public service mall is a priority program as a part of our bureaucratic reforms,” he emphasized.
Central Sulawesi Governor Rusdy Mastura has committed to establishing public service malls in one city and five districts in the province.
Vice President Amin held a meeting with the local governments of Central Sulawesi Province as well as related ministries and institutions to discuss economic recovery; empowerment of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs); and optimalization of public service malls.
After the meeting, he visited the MSMEs exhibition held on the first floor of the Central Sulawesi Governor’s Office.
The meeting was part of his agenda amid the two-day working visit to Palu City on January 6-7, 2022.
On Thursday, he also held another meeting with the regional governments to discuss the acceleration of rehabilitation and reconstruction of damaged public infrastructure in Palu City, Donggala District, and Sigi District due to a 7.4 magnitude earthquake that struck on September 28, 2018, which triggered a tsunami and soil liquefaction.
