Warning of criminals lurking in flooded houses to steal items

Warning: Criminals are making things worse for flood victims by stealing items from flooded houses in Mae Sai District, Chiang Rai Province.

The flooding in Mae Sai District, Chiang Rai Province was caused by a flash flood that came quickly, causing many families to be caught off guard and unable to cope with the situation. Some people had crossed the border to work in neighboring countries and had not yet returned home. When they saw that the water level had receded, they traveled back and checked on their families who were still trapped in their homes, including their belongings. However, an unexpected event occurred when officers were notified by local residents that there had been a theft in the flooded areas, such as Ban Koh Sai and Ban Mai Lung Khan, Mae Sai District, which are areas where the water level is high and the current is quite strong, but there are still criminals sneaking in to steal things.

Marine police on duty to help victims in Mae Sai District and nearby areas therefore planned to in
vestigate suspicious individuals, screen entry and exit of the area, and coordinate with Mae Sai Police Station to monitor the incident to ensure the safety of the public in terms of both life and property. Initially, no perpetrators were found, so we would like to ask the public that in this situation, they should not do such things because it makes the victims worse. If officers find any suspects or wrongdoers, they will immediately arrest and prosecute them. If the public sees any, they can immediately report any information to the police on duty in the area.
