West Java’s Cisumdawu toll road operational in June 2022: Governor

The Cisumdawu toll road, connecting Cileunyi, Sumedang, and Dawuan in West Java, will become operational in June 2022 if no issues hinder the current progress in construction, West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil stated.

“The construction contractors, based on their latest report, are confident that the toll road can be completed and become operational in June 2022,” the governor remarked while observing the Cisumdawu toll road construction progress report at the Cisumdawu toll road working unit office in Jatinangor, Sumedang District, West Java, on Monday.

As the work to construct the Cisumdawu toll road has reached 90-percent completion by January 2022, some toll road sections can be operated for public use by the end of this month, he stated.

“The contractors are currently handling the issue of landslides at several points and land acquisition for future expansion that does not affect the main toll road,” Kamil noted.

The governor expressed optimism that construction contractors would perform their work in accordance with the latest work plan conceived by the working unit to ensure prompt completion of the toll road’s construction.

The prompt completion will also allow direct access to the West Java International Airport in Kertajati, Majalengka District, to be connected this year, he added.

“If the toll road is connected to the Kertajati Airport, the airport should no longer be desolate, as residents need only 40 minutes to access the airport from Bandung,” Kamil stated.

The governor also expressed gratitude to President Joko Widodo and Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, who have committed to expediting the construction of the Cisumdawu toll road.

“This is the year of optimism. We will see economic awakening in 2022 because the Cisumdawu toll road and Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway will be completed in the same year,” he affirmed.
