A 38-year-old Pak Nam man was attacked by his ex-girlfriend who broke into his bathroom door and threw acid at him in the middle of the night. His 8-year-old daughter was slightly injured. It is believed that he was angry that he broke up with her. He will consult a lawyer before turning himself in.
At 11:40 p.m. yesterday (October 11, 2024), officers from Samut Prakan City Police Station received a report that two people had been injured after acid was thrown on them in Soi Phatthanivet, Theparak Road, Tambon Bang Muang, Amphoe Mueang, Samut Prakan Province. After receiving the report, they contacted the Samut Prakan Rescue Association to travel to inspect the scene.
The scene of the incident was a two-story house. On the ground floor, an injured person was found, identified as Mr. Thiraphong, 38 years old, with wounds from an unknown type of acid splashed on his leg, with several blistering wounds. Another injured person, an 8-year-old girl, the injured person’s daughter, was accidentally injured in both
ankles. Officers rushed to give first aid before helping to send him to the hospital. From the inspection inside the house, acid was found flowing all over the floor, pants, towels, and fan in front of the bathroom. There were burn marks from corrosion.
When asked, Mr. Thiraphong (the injured person) said that the perpetrator was his ex-girlfriend, whom he had been dating for about 1 year and had just recently broken up. At the time of the incident, he was taking a shower in the house. When he finished taking a shower and opened the bathroom door, he found his ex-girlfriend standing in front of the door. Then, when the ex-girlfriend saw him, she immediately splashed water on him and then walked out without saying anything. The day before the incident, his ex-girlfriend also threw water at his niece. The cause is believed to be a grudge because he had broken up with her a while ago. During their relationship, they often had problems arguing and using violence to smash things in the house. After the incident,
he fled to the house he rented next door.
Initially, the police tried to talk to the perpetrator over the phone to persuade him to surrender, but it was unsuccessful. The perpetrator claimed that he was afraid of being hurt and would like to surrender with his lawyer today. Therefore, it is recommended that the victim file a complaint with the investigator to proceed with legal action.
