Bangkok: Preparing to open for the public to register for the right to use the electric train for 20 baht all lines. "Suriya" announced good news, preparing to open for people to register for the right to use the electric train at 20 baht all lines via the "Tang Rat" app, starting from August 25 onwards, confirming that the system will not crash, recommending that people register continuously - no expiration date before starting the service on October 1, 68, confident that after the announcement of use, the number of passengers will increase by more than 20%.

According to Thai News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Suriya Juangroongruangkit revealed that from August 25, 2025 onwards, the public will be able to register for the maximum 20 baht electric train fare measure (20 baht for the entire line) via the 'Tang Rat' application, which can be downloaded on both iOS and Android systems. The condition is that the person must be a Thai national and must provide a 13-digit national ID card number, a credit card, a debit card, and a fare card (a registered Rabbit Card) to be used with the electric train system. The card that has been confirmed for registration will automatically be entitled to the measure. If not registered, the fare must be paid at the normal rate. However, he is confident that the registration system will not crash because it will use a similar format to the registration for the 'Digital Wallet' policy, which has over 18 million applicants, but the system can accommodate it.

In this regard, we would like to inform the public that everyone is entitled to register for the 20-baht flat-rate electric train fare measure, and the registration will never expire. The measure will start from August 25, 2025 onwards, which will start from October 1, 2025 onwards, covering the electric train network in the Bangkok Metropolitan Area (BMA) and its vicinity, a total of 8 lines, 13 routes, a total of 194 stations, a total distance of 276.84 kilometers (km). We are confident that once the measure is launched, the passenger rate will increase by at least 20%.

Mr. Suriya continued that the use of the 20-baht flat-rate electric train service in the first phase will use the Rabbit Card format, which can be used on 4 lines: Green, Gold, Yellow, and Pink. Meanwhile, the EMV Contactless card (Visa/Mastercard) according to the terms and conditions of participating banks can be used on 6 lines: Red, Blue, Purple, Pink, Yellow, and Airport Rail Link (ARL). Initially, if people travel by electric train across lines, they will have to hold 2 cards but pay only 20 baht for the entire line. In the next phase, appropriate technology will be used to develop the system, such as scanning and paying with QR CODE to scan and pay for the fare, to increase convenience for use.

For the 20 baht flat rate electric train fare measure, it is a flagship policy of the government by the Pheu Thai Party and the Ministry of Transport, which will help reduce the cost of living for the people and increase the opportunity to access the public transportation system equally, safely, conveniently, quickly, and environmentally friendly. It also significantly reduces the number of cars on the road, accidents, and air pollution.
