2022 Ketupat Operation to make exodus healthy, safe: National Police

The “Ketupat” Operation is an effort to support the 2022 Eid exodus implementation which is aimed to be healthy, safe, and smooth, a police spokesperson has informed here on Sunday.

“The Ketupat Operation 2022 will be held from April 28 to May 9, 2022, with the theme of ‘Healthy, Safe and Smooth Exodus,” Head of the National Police’s Public Information Division Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan said.

He said the healthy aspect of exodus is carried out as an endeavor to avoid the spread of COVID-19 by ensuring that travelers have received two doses of the COVID-29 vaccine and booster shots, as well as implementing strict health protocols.

“An exodus is safe and smooth (if) travelers can prepare themselves by maintaining self-security on the way, readying vehicles (in good condition), and obeying the traffic rules; Officers will provide services, secure lanes, and help to smooth the traffic,” Ramadhan explained.

In the 2022 exodus activities, he said, the travelers must be able to manage their time and travel schedules by considering the busy roads and sticking to digital maps.

So, in case of overcrowding, they can delay and officers would try to handle the traffic, he added.

In the 2022 Ketupat Operation, the National Police has prepared 253 posts, consisting of 239 security posts, 74 service posts, two integrated posts, 22 regional police main security posts, and 1,136 traffic posts.

“The operation objects are 58 terminals, 64 railway stations, three ports, 214 shopping centers, three airports, 305 tourist attractions, and other 10,720 locations,” Ramadhan informed.

The National Police and other stakeholders have also prepared various traffic strategies, ranging from the one-way flow, contraflow, and odd-even plate numbers policies to reduce the density of vehicles and traffic jams.

These traffic strategies are not only applied to four-wheeled vehicles but also to two-wheeled motor vehicles, Ramadhan emphasized.
