2022 Parekraf Rakornas to discuss three main issues: minister

The 2022 Tourism and Creative Economy (Parekraf) National Coordination Meeting will discuss three main issues, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno informed in a statement issued on Tuesday.

The first issue will be the tourism and creative economy program transformation, in keeping with the results of the 2022 G20 Presidency agenda on strengthening the pillars of health, digital transformation, and sustainable development (green energy).

“In addition, (the issue also involves) Indonesia’s strategic position as the chair of 2023 ASEAN to support the creation of jobs, business opportunities, and work opportunities,” he said.

The meeting will also discuss efforts to expedite strategic programs, including intellectual property-based financing, tourist village, creative village/city/district, and quality creative economy product development, in 2023.

The efforts also involve tourism and creative economy micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), Proud to Travel in Indonesia, as well as the development of the five super-priority destinations.

“The last issue concerns encouraging the safe, comfortable, and resilient movement of Indonesian and international tourists by considering the health protocols as well as tourism and disaster crisis management,” Uno informed.

This is expected to be supported by various parties and stakeholders to encourage the development and transformation of the tourism and creative economy sector, especially its impact on economic revival and job creation.

The 2022 Parekraf Rakornas will be held here on December 15–16, 2022, in a hybrid format. It will be themed “Inclusive and Sustainable Transformation of Tourism and Creative Economy.”

Head of the 2022 Parekraf Rakornas’ organizing body, Frans Teguh, informed that the activity will open with a number of institutions or ministries sharing materials on the development of the tourism and creative economy sector.

The institutions include the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, National Development Planning Board (Bappenas), and Ministry of Finance.

The meeting will also feature presentations from the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC).

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the executive directors of the World Bank and representatives from New Zealand and the Pacific will also share their insights.

“Later, there will also be launching of several initiatives, and MoU inking between the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy with several parties for supporting the development of the domestic tourism and creative economy,” he informed.
