Deputy Governor of Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria has made assurance that penalties will be levied against companies that failed to disburse Eid al-Fitr allowance to their employees before this year’s Eid holiday period. “We will focus on this issue, and we would consider (whether companies) will be reprimanded or sanctioned (later),” Patria noted here on Tuesday. The deputy governor also promised that the provincial authority will follow up on all complaints on Eid allowance disbursement issues reported by residents. “We will follow up (on their complaints), and we would verify the data. We will monitor and evaluate the reports before taking follow-up actions against companies that are late in disbursing the Eid allowance to their employees,” the deputy governor noted. Earlier, the Ministry of Manpower made its channels available on April 8-May 8, 2022, for employees’ complaints regarding issues on the Eid al-Fitr allowance disbursement. The ministry’s Secretary General, Anwar Sanusi, in his statement on Monday (May 9), revealed that the ministry had received a total of 5,680 reports that comprised 3,037 complaints and 2,643 online consultations. The 3,037 complaints are reported by employees from 1,758 companies, he remarked. Of the total complaints, some 1,438 reports pertained to failure to disburse allowances, 1,235 reports on allowances paid not in accordance with regulations, and 364 reports on late allowance disbursements, he noted. The ministry, through Instagram account @kemnaker on Wednesday (May 4), also noted that Jakarta had recorded the maximum number of complaints on Eid allowance disbursement issues with 930 reports, followed by West Java, Banten, and East Java. Of the 930 reports logged in Jakarta, unpaid allowances accounted for 416 complaints, while 377 complaints reported allowances paid not in accordance with the regulations, and 137 reports were on late disbursements. According to Article 78 of Government Regulation No. 36 of 2021 on Wage, employers, who failed to disburse religious allowances, are threatened with administrative sanctions, and companies committing major violations could have their business activities suspended Source: Antara News
