Bangkok: The Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC) celebrated its 22nd anniversary, with a commitment to enhance the quality of education for Thai children and alleviate administrative burdens on educators. The event underscored OBEC’s ongoing dedication to building a solid educational foundation for young learners in Thailand.
According to Thai News Agency, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Narumon Pinyosinwat expressed her satisfaction with OBEC’s progress over the past 22 years. She emphasized the need to reduce the administrative workload on teachers and educational personnel, suggesting adjustments in finance and material administration to allow educators more time to focus on student development. Dr. Pinyosinwat also highlighted the necessity of reviewing academic criteria for teachers to ensure they align with current educational demands. She advocated for a curriculum that prioritizes history and civic duties, enabling students to understand their societal roles within a democratic framework.
Second Lieutenant Thanu Wongchinda remarked that organizing basic education has been OBEC’s primary mission, significantly contributing to the development of Thai children’s educational foundations. He stressed the importance of fostering a well-rounded human being with intellectual, moral, and cultural capabilities. Wongchinda called for collective efforts from various sectors to face present and future educational challenges, aiming for a robust educational system that supports sustainable development.
