4th Army Region Commander Surveys Narathiwat Border for Arms Smuggling Activities

Narathiwat: The 4th Army Region Commander took to the skies to survey the border forests of Narathiwat Province following reports of insurgents smuggling weapons into Thailand. The aerial reconnaissance was initiated in response to intelligence on the movement of these groups transporting arms from a neighboring country.

According to Thai News Agency, Lieutenant General Paisal Nusang, Commander of the Fourth Army Region and Director of Internal Security Operations Command Region 4, led the aerial survey. The operation involved inspecting the mountainous forests along Narathiwat’s border, aiming to identify supply routes and potential vulnerabilities exploited for arms smuggling. The survey also assessed forest density, patrol bases, and the readiness of border checkpoints.

Following the survey, an urgent meeting was convened with the Suriya Thawee Control Unit and the Narathiwat Task Force. The focus was on developing an operational plan to intercept smuggling activities. Key strategies included closing supply routes, enhancing ground patrols both day and night, and improving coordination with security agencies in neighboring countries.

The Fourth Army Region Commander stressed the critical importance of border control for national security. He directed all units to intensify their operations and leverage intelligence to prevent violent groups from accessing weapons and military equipment. The overarching goal is to assess and secure transportation routes and potential smuggling channels effectively.
