Vice President Ma’ruf Amin has encouraged the provincial government of Aceh to increase the number of public service malls in districts and cities in a bid to improve public services for residents.
“In Aceh Province, according to a report that I received, there is only one public service mall in Banda Aceh City. In accordance with the mandate of the Presidential Regulation, it is essential to encourage the establishment of public service malls in all districts and cities,” Amin stated during a meeting at the Aceh Governor’s Office, Tuesday.
The establishment of public service malls has been stipulated in Presidential Regulation Number 89 of 2021 on the Implementation of Public Service Malls in order to integrate services of the regional government and ministerial and non-ministerial government institutions, State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), Regional-Owned Enterprises (BUMD), and private parties.
“The establishment of public service malls is one of the efforts to improve public services. Public service malls are expected to serve as the face of the government in public services,” he noted.
The dynamics of today’s society have demanded public services to become faster, easier, and economical. To this end, regional governments must be able to meet the demands of the community.
“The implementation of public services must be simpler and more competitive along with the increasingly massive use of technology. This will encourage the achievement of effective, efficient, fast, and responsive public services,” he noted.
Public service malls must offer public services to the community, both in the licensing and non-licensing sectors, which fall under the authority of the central and regional governments.
In addition, public service malls must provide BUMN and BUMD services that are tailored to the needs and conditions in each region, he added.
“Public service malls must have measurable performance targets, so that the achievements are visible to all and the obstacles and challenges faced can be evaluated,” he remarked.
