Aceh Province has been appointed to serve as the host for Indonesia’s Traditional Music Instrument National Exhibition in 2022 after Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi, became the host in 2021.
“Next year, Insya Allah (God willing), based on the result of the coordination meeting, Aceh Province will be the host for 2022,” Southeast Sulawesi Education and Culture Service Head Asrun Lio stated during Indonesia’s Traditional Music Instrument National Exhibition 2021 here on Monday.
Aceh Province will become the 13th host for the event after Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi, became the 12th host from November 22 to November 26, 2021.
The exhibition was held for the first time at the Jakarta National Museum in 2010. The 11th exhibition in 2020 was held in Ambon, Maluku.
“Congratulations to Aceh for being chosen to become the host for Indonesia’s Traditional Music Exhibition in 2022,” Lio remarked.
He explained that the national exhibition was an annual agenda held in turns at 31 museums across Indonesia.
The exhibition was held to disseminate information to the people regarding the diversity of traditional music across Indonesia, introduce them to the local culture and enhance their knowledge, and to bolster the citizens’ appreciation for the museum.
The exhibition in Kendari was personally opened by Deputy Governor of Southeast Sulawesi Lukman Abunawas, and the participants comprised the province’s head of Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) and several other invited guests.
“No matter what, culture is an inheritance from our ancestors that we should preserve,” Abunawas noted while opening the national-scale event.
One of the efforts to advance culture is to hold Indonesia’s traditional music instrument national exhibition, he affirmed.
“Museum has a public service that could introduce and promote local culture as well as form the character of Indonesians,” he stated.
