Actor Art Pasut Leads Volunteer Effort for Free Transportation to Honor Queen Sirikit

Bangkok: Actor Art Pasut, along with a group of volunteers, has initiated a free motorcycle transportation service to assist citizens traveling to the Grand Palace to pay their respects to the royal urn of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother. This initiative aims to provide a heartfelt service to the public, emphasizing the volunteers’ dedication as Thai citizens.

According to Thai News Agency, Art Pasut has taken measures to ensure the safety and visibility of volunteers by distributing reflective vests. The vests, marked with “Free Pickup and Drop Off,” help distinguish the volunteers from others who might charge for similar services. So far, approximately 200 vests have been distributed, with plans to produce an additional 1,000-2,000 T-shirts for local residents. This effort is supported by Art and other generous donors who have covered all associated expenses.

Art clarified the scope of the free transportation service, addressing misunderstandings regarding home delivery. The service is intended to transport individuals from Sanam Luang to nearby locations within a 2-3 kilometer radius, such as Pinklao Bridge and Wongwian Yai Circle, rather than to their homes. Art emphasized that if anyone is charged for this service, they are not part of his group, which operates from 8-9 a.m. with volunteers working in shifts.

To maintain transparency, Art has implemented a system requiring all expenses related to the volunteer effort to be invoiced and documented. This ensures accountability and clarity regarding the use of funds for items like drinking water and equipment. Art has reassured his team that he will address any unmet needs, further underscoring his commitment to the initiative.
