Actress Marie Brenner Charged with Drunk Driving After Breathalyzer Checkpoint Incident

Bangkok: Police have charged Marie Brenner with drunk driving after she was caught at a breathalyzer checkpoint in her luxury car. Her male friend, who was with her, was seen yelling and obstructing police officers. The suspected drunkenness may have been the result of her driving.

According to Thai News Agency, in the case of actress Marie Brenner who was driving a luxury car and encountered a breathalyzer checkpoint but refused to take a breathalyzer, her male friend got out of the car and started yelling and obstructing the officers. Pol. Col. Jessada Yangnok, Superintendent of Wang Thonglang Police Station, revealed that last night, officers from Wang Thonglang Station set up a breathalyzer checkpoint on Pradit Manutham Road between 2:00 and 4:00 AM. They requested to inspect a green Porsche, which turned out to be driven by Marie Brenner, with Mr. Atsakorn sitting in the front, along with two other women. When asked to take a breathalyzer, Mr. Atsakorn became loud, obstructed the check, and verbally abused the officers, although he did not physically assault them.

Police eventually brought all of them to Wang Thonglang Police Station and charged Ms. Marie with drunk driving, as she refused to blow into a breathalyzer. Ms. Marie then posted 20,000 baht in cash to request bail from the investigating officer. The investigating officer granted the bail and scheduled her to report on Monday, August 25th, to be sent to the Phra Nakhon Nuea District Court.

Regarding Mr. Atsamakorn’s behavior, which included verbal abuse and the claim that he knew an important person, Pol. Col. Jessada stated that it likely stemmed from his intoxication and his speech without awareness, perhaps simply speaking incoherently, as is typical of a drunk person. Traffic police have filed a complaint with investigators, seeking legal action against Mr. Atsamakorn on charges of resisting or obstructing officers in the performance of their duties and insulting officers in the performance of their duties. Investigators have already accepted the complaint. A summons may be issued or a summons may be issued to summon him to acknowledge the charges.
