Aem and Husband Visit Thaksin, Share Updates on His Well-Being

Bangkok: “Aem” Pinthongtha Shinawatra Kunakornwong and her husband made a visit to Klong Prem Central Prison to see former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, where they provided updates on his condition.

According to Thai News Agency, the couple arrived at the prison in a white Mercedes-Benz van bearing a Bangkok license plate. Both were dressed in black, a gesture of solidarity with the gathered group of “Red Shirts,” who were there to support the Shinawatra family. After exchanging greetings and smiles with the supporters, Pinthongtha and her husband Natthaphong proceeded into the prison.

At around 11:00 a.m., following the visit, Natthaphong disclosed that Thaksin is adapting well to his situation, although he is experiencing minor issues with his blood pressure. He mentioned that Thaksin will soon mark two months in the facility. When asked about the upcoming Pheu Thai Party leadership election, Natthaphong clarified that the topic was not discussed during the visit, as the purpose was solely familial.

The couple refrained from discussing whether Thaksin has been involved in any volunteer work while imprisoned. Natthaphong did, however, reaffirm that his father is settling into his circumstances. When reporters inquired about his own potential political aspirations, Natthaphong chose not to respond, offering only a smile.

Before departing, Pinthongtha and Natthaphong expressed their gratitude to the supporters by performing a traditional wai and sharing positive updates on Thaksin’s health. Notably, the number of Red Shirts present was smaller than usual, and the sound system previously set up outside the prison had been removed.
