Bangkok: Agricultural drone users are required to register through the UAS Portal before they can resume flights. Deputy Government Spokesperson Anukul Prueksanusak announced that the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) is inviting farmers and agricultural drone users to register their drones as part of efforts to enhance safety standards and support sustainable drone technology in agriculture.
According to Thai News Agency, the registration process is mandatory for all farmers and agricultural drone users. Qualified individuals must register their drones and operators via the UAS Portal system, accessible through the website uasportal.caat.or.th and the mobile application “UAS Portal” available for iOS and Android devices.
The CAAT has established guidelines and procedures for unmanned aircraft to standardize the agricultural drone system. These include applications for flight permits, registration, safety inspections, and appropriate drone flight training for farmers. The guidelines also cover application processes for agricultural drone flight permits and user manuals to ensure practical regulatory compliance in the field.
Registered agricultural drones will not be permitted to fly until August 15, 2025. Once drone flights are allowed, registered users can immediately apply for flight permits. Pre-registering both the operator and the drone is emphasized as a vital step in this process.
Mr. Anukul noted that CAAT will not impose any fees or charges for drone registration, operator registration, and agricultural flight permit applications until September 1, 2025.
