Bangkok: The National Police Inspector General has initiated the International Call Center and Human Trafficking Incident Management Center (IAC) and introduced Operation “Close the Door and Smash the Rice Pot.” The operation aims to dismantle the largest call center located in Cambodia within a span of three months.
According to Thai News Agency, call center gangs have adapted to using a new method involving LINE BK mule accounts. These accounts are being acquired by purchasing LINE accounts from elderly individuals residing in the northern border provinces. The shift in tactics is a response to increasing efforts by authorities to clamp down on fraudulent activities.
The operation underscores the commitment of the National Police to curtail the operations of call center syndicates and protect vulnerable populations from being exploited. The focus on elderly individuals highlights the gangs’ strategy to exploit those who may be less aware of the risks associated with selling their accounts.
