Bangkok: “Anutin” has urged the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) to summon “Nattaporn” and issue an arrest warrant if he fails to appear, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the government’s integrity. Anutin expressed concern that allowing Nattaporn to remain free would damage the reputation of government agencies. He also questioned how the case was allowed to linger until the statute of limitations nearly expired, noting that Nattaporn has a history of unresolved legal issues under his former name.
According to Thai News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul discussed the ongoing efforts to locate Mr. Nattaporn Toprayoon, a former advisor to the Ombudsman and one of the 14 suspects in the Klongchan Cooperative money laundering case. Anutin confirmed that the DSI has coordinated with the Department of Provincial Administration to track down Nattaporn. They have been monitoring his movements across various provinces concerning the sovereign wealth collusion case. A formal request has been made for provincial cooperation with the DSI to locate him. Anutin emphasized that if the DSI, in collaboration with the Office of the Attorney General, makes a second attempt to bring Nattaporn to court as the statute of limitations nears its June 15 deadline, the Ministry of the Interior is prepared to assist. However, an arrest warrant must be issued first, as only a summons has been issued so far. Once an arrest warrant is in place, all relevant organizations must actively partici
pate in locating and apprehending the suspect.
Anutin further stated that if Nattaporn fails to respond to the DSI’s summons, an arrest warrant should be issued immediately. This follows the prosecutor’s coordination with the DSI to issue a summons in February 2025. Despite this, Nattaporn has been seen in various locations, openly announcing his whereabouts.
Anutin criticized the delay in the case, which has dragged on for eight years, preventing a lawsuit from being filed. He highlighted Nattaporn’s history of evading justice using his former name, suggesting a pattern of exploiting the statute of limitations. Anutin stressed the need for swift action, pointing out that failing to arrest Nattaporn would amount to neglect of duty and tarnish the state’s reputation. He called for collective efforts from the Ministry of the Interior and the DSI to prevent individuals from evading justice and compromising national security.
