Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul, the Prime Minister of Thailand, outlined his strategic vision for driving the nation’s economic growth while addressing the complexities of political alliances and border issues with Cambodia. During a meeting at the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), he reiterated the importance of unity among government factions and the need for economic revival.
According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister Anutin revealed that a proposal is set to be submitted to the Cabinet for royal approval within the week. He explained that the Thai-Cambodian border crossing remains closed, as the Federation of Thai Industries has not initiated its opening. He emphasized the conditions set by Thailand and acknowledged the challenges faced by the Prime Minister and Cabinet ministers, arising from differing factions and concerns about vote loss from other parties. Despite these differences, Anutin stressed the importance of unity within the same group for the country’s progress.
During the meeting, Anutin engaged with key figures such as Deputy Minister of Commerce Suchart Chomklin, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Ekniti Nitithanpraphas, and other notable ministers. The FTI president presented Anutin with a congratulatory gift basket and birthday wishes, expressing honor and delight at his presence and leadership.
Anutin opened the meeting with a call for collaboration among long-time acquaintances to tackle national issues. He announced that the Cabinet list would soon be submitted for royal endorsement. Anutin emphasized the need for cooperation between the government and economic leaders to propel Thailand towards stability, a stronger economy, improved quality of life, and a peaceful society.
Anutin also addressed concerns from the FTI, highlighting the urgency of resolving Thai-Cambodian border issues to facilitate trade. He stressed the importance of maintaining sovereignty and national dignity amidst ongoing conflicts and constraints. Anutin outlined the strategic focus on utilizing military, diplomatic, and consultation resources for swift resolution.
Furthermore, Anutin emphasized the significance of local content and production investments within Thailand, particularly in the CLMV countries. He urged negotiations with key trading partners to compete effectively on the global stage. Anutin stressed the need for economic channels and expansion, drawing on the foundation laid over the past decade to enhance Thailand’s industrial sector.
Acknowledging political dynamics, Anutin assured that his government would prioritize unity. He expressed confidence in addressing mutual suspicions between parties and emphasized the importance of aligning different factions for the nation’s benefit.
Anutin, with his private sector experience, highlighted the value of economic strength in overcoming challenges. He humorously noted that a robust economy would ensure people have enough to eat and live with dignity. He committed to expediting foundational efforts, prioritizing public welfare over personal image, and using his authority to fulfill public expectations.
