According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, along with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Ekniti Nitithanpraphat, traveled to the Bhumjaithai Party and held discussions with Ms. Suphajee Suthumpun, Minister of Commerce. Following the discussion, Mr. Anutin addressed reporters, accompanied by Ms. Suphajee, the prospective Minister of Commerce, and Mr. Ekniti, the prospective Deputy Prime Minister and prospective Minister of Finance.
Mr. Anutin highlighted that the Cabinet, especially those coming from non-political backgrounds and established professional fields, had reached a consensus on policies that need implementation within the given timeframe to ensure maximum national benefit. He confirmed that the government will include another professional to assist with commerce, trade, and revenue generation. Ms. Suphajee is set to work under Mr. Ekniti’s supervision, with Ekniti also serving as Deputy Prime Minister and head of the economic team.
When inquired about his approach to recruiting Ms. Suphajee, Mr. Anutin noted that he appealed to her by considering the expectations and interests of the people and the nation. He praised her for her substantial achievements, experience, and capability in managing large-scale businesses and organizations, urging her to contribute to national development.
Mr. Anutin addressed concerns about Ms. Suphajee’s ability to revitalize the economy in a brief four-month span by stating that she is a professional administrator rather than a businesswoman.
