Anutin Refuses to Expel Kalasin MP Prabha for Voting Against Party Resolution

Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul, the leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, has made it clear that he will not expel Kalasin MP Prabha Hengpaiboon, who recently voted against the party’s resolution regarding the 2026 Fiscal Year Expenditure Bill. Despite calling Prabha a “foreign object in the party,” Anutin insists that she will “die on her own” without the need for expulsion.

According to Thai News Agency, Anutin expressed his suspicions about Prabha’s allegiance, suggesting that she might have received an eight-figure sum or other incentives for her actions, though he dismissed the notion that her motivations were for the benefit of the people. He emphasized that while an investigation is ongoing, the need for further probing is unnecessary if such behavior persists.

When questioned about two other individuals previously investigated by the committee, Anutin mentioned that they are no longer a concern, implying that Prabha is now the sole focus. He described the situation as an MP’s privilege and remarked that being part of the party is beneficial.

Anutin refrained from commenting on specific motives, indicating that one must ask Prabha directly about any potential financial incentives. He reiterated that the actions were not in the interest of the public.

Addressing the broader issue of party unity during votes, Anutin condemned the actions as regrettable and suggested boycotting such behavior. He expressed disappointment over the lack of appreciation for such incidents, viewing them as a disservice to the people.

When a reporter inquired if drastic actions, likened to “slaughtering a chicken to show the monkeys,” were necessary, Anutin replied that no such measures were needed, as the problem would resolve itself.
