Bangkok: Anutin has called on coalition parties to move quickly to form a new cabinet. The new lineup is nearing completion, and outsiders are being sought as qualifications are gradually being filled.
According to Thai News Agency, a lively atmosphere was reported at the Bhumjaithai Party headquarters this afternoon and evening. Members of the coalition government and political groups supporting Prime Minister-elect Anutin Charnvirakul gathered at the party’s venue. Key attendees included Captain Thammanat Prompao, advisor to the Klatham Party; Niphon Bunyamanee, former deputy leader of the Democrat Party; Santi Promphat, secretary-general of the Palang Pracharath Party; Suchart Chomklin, deputy leader of the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party; and Sakda Wichiensilp, MP for the Pheu Thai Party. Discussions focused on the allocation of ministerial positions according to the respective quotas.
The latest cabinet list suggests that the Bhumjaithai Party will receive the majority of ministerial seats, approximately 12, with Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul positioned as Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior. Mr. Songsak Thongsri and Ms. Sabida Thaiset are set to serve as Deputy Ministers of the Interior.
Mr. Chaichanok Chidchob, the party secretary-general, is expected to become the new Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation. Supamas Isaraphakdi has been reassigned to the position of Minister of Digital Economy and Society.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Transport will see a new minister, with Mr. Pipat Ratchakitprakarn appointed as its director. Mr. Paradorn Prisananantakul has been named as the new minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office, and Mr. Surasak Pancharoenworakul will become Minister of Tourism and Sports.
In terms of the outsider quota, Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkaew is nominated for the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Ekniti Nitithanpraphat, the Director-General of the Treasury Department, is nominated for Minister of Finance. Mr. Atthapol Rerkpiboon, former CEO and President of PTT Public Company Limited, is nominated for Minister of Energy, and Mr. Chatuporn Buruspat will serve as Minister of Commerce.
The position of Minister of Justice remains under the outsider’s quota, with rumors suggesting a police officer might be appointed.
The Kla Tham Party has proposed seven seats, including the Defense Minister position for Lt. Col. Thammanat Prompao, although this is also sought by the Palang Pracharath Party. Other appointments include Mr. Atthakorn Sirilathayakorn as Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Mrs. Narumon Pinyosinwat as Minister of Education, and Mr. Akara Prompao as Minister of Social Development and Human Security. Mr. Pai Lik will be appointed as Deputy Minister of Agriculture, with Mr. Ong-art Wongprayoon and Mr. Samphan Mayuso nominated for unspecified Deputy Ministerial roles.
The Palang Pracharath Party has four seats, with Santi Promphat listed as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Health. The Minister of Defense position is proposed, but General Prawit Wongsuwan will be replaced by General Nat Inthacharoen. Ms. Trinuch Thienthong and Mr. Chaiwut Thanakamanusorn are named for positions likely in the Ministry of Labor, but further details are pending.
For Mr. Suchart Chomklin’s group, three seats are allocated, with Suchart himself appointed as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Natural Resources and Environment. Petty Officer 1st Class Yotsingh Liamlert is appointed Minister of Industry, and Mr. Thanakorn Wangboonkhongchana is considered for Deputy Minister of the Interior.
Mr. Sakda Wichiensilp’s group received a quota of one minister and one deputy minister, including Mr. Naris Khamnuarak. Mr. Nipon’s group will receive one deputy ministerial position.
However, the ministerial candidates are in the process of completing their resumes to verify their qualifications.
