Bangkok: The court dismissed the petition filed by Ratchanee Polsue regarding the Election Commission’s disqualification from voting. Ratchanee Phonsue, a Roi Et MP from the Kla Tham Party, is thrilled after the Appeals Court dismissed her petition against the Election Commission (EC) for disqualifying her from voting.
According to Thai News Agency, the Court of Appeals Region 4, Khon Kaen Province, considered the case of the 2024 Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO) election between the Election Commission (EC), the petitioner, and Ms. Ratchanee Phonsue, a Roi Et MP from the Klatham Party, the objector. The case involved the EC filing a petition requesting the court to disqualify Ms. Ratchanee Phonsue, a Roi Et MP from the Klatham Party, from running for election or disqualify her from voting in the Roi Et PAO election, replacing Mr. Ekkapop Phonsue, who was disqualified in the 2022 election. The court alleged that on August 10, 2022, Mr. Ekkapop and Ms. Ratchanee, in their capacities as kamnan and village headmen, donated money to the kamnan and village headmen club in Roi Et Province to induce her to vote.
The Court of Appeals Region 4 reviewed the evidence and concluded that there was no proof of any act of inducement to vote in any election. Consequently, the court dismissed the petition.
