Army Spokesman Confirms No Ceasefire as Cambodia Attacks Thai Soldiers

Bangkok: Army spokesman says no ceasefire, Cambodia attacks Thai soldiers early in the morning after Trump asks for ceasefire, houses damaged by BM-21 rockets.

According to Thai News Agency, Maj. Gen. Winthai Suvari, the Army spokesman, spoke at the Royal Thai Army Headquarters about the ongoing conflict. He addressed the discussions involving Donald Trump, President of the United States, with the Prime Minister of Cambodia and Mr. Phumtham Vejjayachai, Acting Prime Minister. Trump had emphasized that if the firing does not cease, there would be no negotiations on US taxes. However, Cambodia continued its attacks, with rockets striking outside the military operations area in Surin Province early this morning.

Reporters revealed that at 4:30 a.m., Cambodian soldiers initiated an attack on Thai soldiers using BM-21 rocket launchers. Contrary to military targets, the rockets were aimed at civilian areas, including homes, hospitals, and communities.

Further incidents occurred at 6:30 a.m. when an artillery shell landed in Ban Ta So, Prasat District, igniting residential houses. Emergency services promptly responded to extinguish the fires.

At 6:40 a.m., another artillery attack targeted a civilian house in Surin Province, resulting in a complete house fire.

Later in the morning, at 7:45 a.m., three cannonballs fell in Ban Nong Chub, Amphoe Phanom Dong Rak. Fortunately, there were no initial reports of injuries.

The assault continued at 7:50 a.m. when the Cambodian military launched a BM-21 rocket into Chong Chom District, Surin Province, causing damage to residents’ houses. Villagers had already evacuated to safer locations.
