Lop buri: A brutal Myanmar man has been arrested for stabbing his wife’s friend to death with a knife. He claims he did it because he concealed information, preventing him from seeing his wife, who had run away from home. He also allegedly ridiculed and insulted her, leading him to become enraged and commit the crime.
According to Thai News Agency, investigators from Phatthana Nikhom Police Station in Lop Buri Province arrested 29-year-old Mr. Win Chay, a Myanmar national, in a dense forest area in Chong Sarika Subdistrict, Phatthana Nikhom District, Lop Buri Province. They seized a knife approximately 30 centimeters long. This follows Mr. Win Chay’s stabbing of his wife’s friend, Ms. Sinmay Phyu, in front of their rented room in Chong Sarika Subdistrict, Phatthana Nikhom District, early yesterday evening. He then fled to hide in the dense forest near the scene, but was ultimately apprehended.
The officers then brought him to the rented room where the incident occurred to reenact the crime, under tight security. The reenactment did not take long, fearing that he might be lynched by villagers and the deceased’s friends.
A young Myanmar man claimed he committed the crime out of anger at being insulted and ridiculed by his wife’s friends. During questioning, the perpetrator confessed that he had lived with his wife in Samut Sakhon Province for a long time before moving to Bangkok. However, his wife suddenly asked for a divorce and fled to work in Lop Buri Province. He tried to persuade her to reconcile and went to look for her. He found out that his wife was living with Ms. Sinmay Phyu in Lop Buri Province. He waited for several days and nights but could not find her. He believed that his friends would tell his wife and help conceal her work and address.
Before the incident, he had purchased a knife and prepared it, intending to visit his wife’s friend, Ms. Sinmay Phyu, for the last time at the rented house where the incident occurred. Upon arrival, Ms. Sinmay Phyu denied giving his wife any information, evaded her, concealed information, laughed at her, and verbally abused her. In a fit of rage, he used the prepared knife to stab her to death. Following the incident, he fled into the forest near the scene, where he was eventually apprehended by officers. He was initially taken to the Phatthana Nikhom Police Station on charges of premeditated murder and entering the Kingdom with an expired permit.
