Asia Pacific PSEA Brown Bag Minutes, 9 February 2023

Updates

  • Sri Lanka – IOM has dedicated PSEA staff, will support coordination. First Network meeting for 2023 will be held in 2 weeks. WHO will also have dedicated consultant on board. Regional WHO PSEA officers will visit in March. Network includes CSOs.
  • India – New interagency coordinator joined. Meetings with all agencies underway. Agencies seeking support to train staff including support staff, CSO IPs and FPs. PSEA assessment of CSO IPs has been raised as an important aspect for training.
  • Myanmar – currently seeking new co-chair. New dedicated coordinator on board. Priorities: PSEA risk assessment, review of SOPs, updating various documents.
  • China – Set up UNCT PSEA TF in 2020 with all 24 UN agencies. Co-chaired by UNWomen and UNFPA. Supported by RCO. Focus has been on setting up structures. Identified PSEA FP, developed TORs for TF and AP. Previous years – conducted mapping exercise.
  • Iran – will have first meeting of Network in 1 week.
  • Indonesia – Last year, set up coordination mechanism. This year, priorities are to finalise IA CBCM, including new IA reporting mechanism via microsite/online and assessing if other reporting channels should be developed. Risk assessment. Network comprises 38 UN ad non-UN staff. Town halls and tabletop meetings, trainings.
  • Vietnam – Agency FP established, mapped out agency reporting-mechanisms. Last year had support to conduct 3 training sessions for IPs, PSEA FP and staff. This year – 1) PSEA risk assessment 2) SOPs 3) communication on PSEA with staff 4) refresher training for PSEA FPs • Mongolia – RC now leading PSEA UN network, UNFPA providing technical assistance. Refresher training for UN PSEA FPs and IP FPs.
  • Philippines – No dedicated Coordinator yet. Had 2 meetings with PSEA TF and drafted AP for 2023. Will be revising with indicators and mapping exercise. Priorities are to update reporting and referral mechanisms, ensure these are aligned with national govt services.
  • Cambodia – Finalised risk assessment in 2022, presented recommendations to TF and UNCT. Finalised draft SOPs for CBCMs. This year, planning PSEA training for TF and IPs. Want to have collective UN approach, comms materials for staff and partners.
  • Bangladesh/Cox’s Bazar – Field test of CB safeguarding toolkit, posters. Most feedback was positive. In process of printing and sharing with Network members. UN IP assessment – created forum with UN Agency focal points, how to share results etc. IASC mapping. Was in Nairobi for PSEA Workshop.
  • Bangladesh/Dhaka – Full time coordinator should be on board by summer. Completed tabletop exercise. Integrated workplans between Cox’s and Dhaka. 2023 – want to expand network to CSO partners.
  • PNG – Currently gap for SPEA Coordinator. AP – focus on training of UN staff and organisations present in PNG. Review TORs of PSEA FPs within PNG to encourage engagement. Communication with communities, ensure feedback mechanisms are in place.
