BAAC Extends Financial Aid to Families of Soldiers Killed on Thai-Cambodian Border

Bangkok: BAAC provides assistance to two families of brave soldiers who died in unrest on the Thai-Cambodian border.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chatchai Sirilai, Manager of the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC), along with Mr. Paisarn Hongthong, Deputy Manager of BAAC, visited and offered encouragement to the families of Sergeant Major Kritsada Noikhot and Sergeant Major Anothai Pongkaew. These soldiers lost their lives defending Thailand during the unrest on the Thai-Cambodian border in July 2025. The BAAC has extended assistance to the families in line with the decision of the Bank’s Board of Directors meeting held on July 31, 2025. This decision approved aid for debtors whose children or spouses, serving as soldiers or Border Patrol Police, died in the line of duty.

The assistance involves waiving the principal of all loan contracts and the entire interest amount using BAAC funding as a special case. This initiative aims to ease the financial burdens on the families of the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for national sovereignty and security, allowing them to continue their lives with stability. The BAAC Manager expressed condolences to the families and emphasized the bravery of the soldiers, which would remain in the memory of the Thai people. The BAAC is committed to providing support in various areas in line with its mission.

In addition to financial aid, the BAAC donated ready-to-eat rice under the “Aun Im” brand to the Second Army Area. This donation, which includes jasmine rice, brown jasmine rice, and riceberry, aims to support local personnel in their efforts to maintain peace and sovereignty in border areas. Col. Thaphol Orchaiphum, Deputy Director of the Internal Security Operations Command in Amnat Charoen Province, received the donation on behalf of the military. The BAAC Manager also engaged with farmer customers in Lue Subdistrict, Pathum Ratchawongsa District, Amnat Charoen Province, during the event.

The BAAC encourages the public to support farmers and frontline soldiers by purchasing “Aun Im” brand ready-to-eat rice from the SKT Roi Et branch. Interested individuals can contact SKT Roi Et Co., Ltd. for orders. The BAAC remains concerned about those affected by the unrest along the Thai-Cambodian border, acknowledging that many are unable to return to their homes or live normal lives.
