BAAC Waives All Loan Liabilities for Families of Fallen Soldiers and Police Officers

Bangkok: The Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) has taken significant steps to support the families of soldiers and Border Patrol Police officers who lost their lives during the Thai-Cambodian border clashes by waiving both the principal and interest on all loan contracts.

According to Thai News Agency, the BAAC board approved this assistance initiative specifically for families of fallen soldiers and border patrol police officers, who are BAAC customers. This decision entails waiving the principal, interest, and related contractual obligations, with BAAC funding allocated to provide the necessary assistance and support to these families.

Mr. Chatchai Sirilai, President of the BAAC, highlighted the severe impact of the unrest on the Thai-Cambodian border on the livelihoods, safety, and property of the bank's farmer customers. The conflict has resulted in injuries and fatalities among both soldiers and civilians, as well as damage to homes and farmland. In response, the BAAC is committed to easing the financial burdens of the affected families, enabling them to continue their livelihoods with stability.

During a meeting chaired by Mr. Chulaphan Amornvivat, Deputy Minister of Finance and Chairman of the BAAC, the Board approved the assistance package aimed at debtors who are children and spouses of BAAC customers that served as soldiers or Border Patrol Police officers. The package includes a full waiver of the principal, outstanding interest, and penalty interest for contracts utilizing BAAC as a funding source.

The BAAC has expressed its commitment to standing by the affected people during the unrest along the Thai-Cambodian border. The bank reassures those left behind that they will not face this crisis alone. For further information, affected families are encouraged to contact any BAAC branch nationwide or reach out to the 24-hour Call Center at 02 555 0555.
