Bang sadet: The people of Bang Sadet wept, feeling grateful for His Majesty’s kindness. Residents of Bang Sadet expressed deep sorrow and gratitude following the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother. They confirmed their commitment to continue the royal doll tradition, which was initiated by Her Majesty.
According to Thai News Agency, 72-year-old Acharn Ruchi Wichitranurak, a member of the Ban Bang Sadet Royal Doll Center, was deeply affected by the news. Acharn Ruchi had served Her Majesty since the center’s inception, which was a royal initiative aimed at aiding flood-affected villagers. Her Majesty’s passing came as a shock to Acharn Ruchi, who had met Her Majesty on several occasions and cherished her guidance.
Ajarn Ruchi shared that learning of Her Majesty’s passing left her feeling disheartened. She fondly recalled the times she met Her Majesty and the guidance she provided, especially in creating royal dolls. These dolls, a representation of Thai art and culture, were a means of providing livelihoods to many villagers. Ajarn Ruchi expressed her deep sadness and vowed to continue this work as a tribute to Her Majesty.
Mr. Piranya Nuamduang, president of the Royal Doll Center, paid homage to Her Majesty by placing her portrait at the Ban Bang Sadet Royal Doll Center. He invited members and the public to pay their respects. The center, established by Her Majesty Queen Sirikit in 1976, has been pivotal in providing additional income to the people of Bang Sadet. It has since grown into a cooperative, distributing and exporting Thai handicrafts.
