Bangchak Unveils ’72nd Anniversary Garden’ to Promote Community Well-Being

Bangkok: Bangchak and BSRC have inaugurated the '72nd Anniversary Garden, Bangchak Fulfills Happiness for Society', transforming the Expressway Authority of Thailand's land into a community park. The initiative was handed over to the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) for management. Bangchak Group, represented by Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited and Bangchak Sriracha Public Company Limited (BSRC), organized the ceremony, which was attended by key figures including Mr. Chaiwat Kovavisarach, CEO of Bangchak Group, and Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, among others.

According to Thai News Agency, the park was developed to honor His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun's 72nd birthday anniversary on July 28, 2024. This project aligns with the royal initiative of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who aimed to transform unused urban areas into community spaces. The 'Phat Sports Field' initiative, begun in 2013 at Khlong Chan and extended to the Si Rat Expressway in 2015, serves as its prototype.

The Bangchak Group has enhanced the area along the Chalerm Maha Nakhon Expressway, covering over 5 rai, which the Expressway Authority of Thailand has allocated for public benefit. Bangchak and BSRC have supported the design and development of a 'Park for All', catering to urban lifestyles with a focus on health, environment, and community engagement. This effort corresponds with Bangkok Governor's '15-minute park' policy, ensuring access to green spaces within a short walk from urban residences.

Inside the park, facilities are designed for exercise, sports, and recreation, including a futsal field, basketball court, skateboard park, and more. The park also features an Ecological Skywalk, conserving original trees and planting new ones to provide shade and reduce carbon emissions. A solar power system is also implemented, advancing towards Bangkok's low-carbon city target and Net Zero goal.

Mr. Chaiwat emphasized that the garden commemorates His Majesty the King's 72nd birthday and is a part of Bangchak's 'Adding Happiness to Society' project, marking its 50th business anniversary. He expressed gratitude to the Expressway Authority of Thailand, Bangkok, and the Khlong Toei District Office for their collaboration. He hopes the 'Bangchak 72nd Anniversary Garden' stands as a testament to successful public-private collaboration for a sustainable society.
