Bangkok Governor Condemns Municipal Officer for Inappropriate Facebook Posts

Bangkok: The Bangkok governor insists he cannot accept municipal officers posting photos of citizens on their personal Facebook pages.

According to Thai News Agency, the governor has clarified the case involving a city officer posting pictures of citizens, emphasizing that it is unacceptable and must be prosecuted according to the law and discipline.

The incident arose when a municipal officer from the Phra Nakhon District Office was complained about by a woman for inappropriate behavior. The officer allegedly took pictures and posted them on his personal Facebook, leading to comments on the woman’s body shape and sexually harassing remarks, which caused her distress.

Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, addressed the issue before a Bangkok Council meeting. He emphasized that such actions by municipal officers are entirely unacceptable, stating that officers should be trusted figures who ensure public safety. He stressed that incidents like this must be managed according to regulations, and the involved officer should face legal and disciplinary actions. The extent of disciplinary punishment will depend on the investigation conducted by the Phra Nakhon District Office, the officer’s supervising body.

The governor also instructed the City Enforcement Department to ensure all officers act with honesty, integrity, and transparency. He highlighted the importance of strict adherence to discipline to guarantee citizen safety.

The officer in question is a temporary employee and has been transferred to other duties within the district office. A fact-finding committee has been established to investigate the situation further before any disciplinary actions are decided.
