Bangkok Mobilizes Support for Migrants on Thai-Cambodian Border

Bangkok: Bangkok has initiated a donation drive to support migrants on the Thai-Cambodian border, with the Ministry of Interior facilitating the distribution of these donations. Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, the Governor of Bangkok, reviewed the efforts at the ‘Bangkok Moral Support Center for Border Province Immigrants’ located at the Rattanakosin Room in Bangkok City Hall, Phra Nakhon District.

According to Thai News Agency, Governor Chadchart expressed gratitude to the public for their active participation in supporting evacuees, emphasizing the strong communal response. The center, managed by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), records and organizes the donations meticulously. The BMA staff are on duty 24/7, even during holidays, to ensure the smooth operation of the donation process. The Governor encouraged more people to contribute to the cause.

The ‘Center for Sending Encouragement from Bangkok to Migrants in Border Provinces’ at Bangkok City Hall has been forwarding donations from Bangkok residents to the Special Operations Center for the Administration of the Thai-Cambodian Border Situation, Ministry of Interior, since July 26, 2015. The donations are aimed at aiding those at the evacuation center. The contributions have been consistent throughout the day.

Items donated so far include essential goods such as sanitary pads, personal care items, mosquito repellent, storybooks, tissue paper, diapers, blankets, instant noodles, dried food, and other necessities, totaling 34,634 items as of July 27, 2015.
