Bangkok: Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has controlled the situation of an ammonia leak at an ice factory on Soi Ram Intra 8, Bang Khen District. The valve was successfully closed, with no injuries or deaths. Strict inspections have been ordered to prevent a repeat incident.
According to Thai News Agency, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration spokesperson Ekwaranyu Amrapal revealed the incident of a chemical leak (ammonia) in Soi Ram Intra 8, Bang Khen District, on the night of September 10, 2015. He stated that at 10:30 PM, the Rama 9 Radio Center received a report of a chemical leak (ammonia) in Soi Ram Intra 8, Ram Intra Road, Anusawari Subdistrict, Bang Khen District. Officials from the Bang Khen Fire and Rescue Station rushed to the scene and arrived at the scene at 10:47 PM. Upon inspection, they discovered a large ice factory leaking ammonia. Officials safely evacuated residents from the surrounding area and successfully closed the ammonia control valve. The situation is now under control, and no injuries or deaths have been reported from the incident.
The Bang Khen and Lat Phrao District Offices are conducting ongoing environmental inspections and monitoring.
